Soon after the launch of its new rival Suzuki S-Presso Renault India has driven all the attention to its all-new renault kwid facelift. I will be giving all the updates and changes in the car. Renault was all ready to unleash but seems like it was waiting for the perfect moment. Now Maruti has created the heat yesterday and Renault benefited it by launching this mini SUV.

Engine & Transmission

The launch is just a face-lift so don't expect any mechanical changes to the car. Engine and transmission are carried over from the previous models. It is powered by the same 796cc engine and a 1.0L petrol engine .0.8L engine produces 54 bhp and 72Nm of power and torque respectively while 1.0L makes a power output of 68bhp and 91Nm. You get a 5-speed manual transmission with a 0.8L engine and an optional 5-speed AMT with the 1.0L engine. Both the engines are 3-cylinder and these are not BS-VI compliant for now.

   Exterior

This is where Renault has done their homework. The kwid now gets a completely new look overhaul and looks muscular and SUVish . You now get a new Headlamp which has been placed on the lower portion of the bumper. What now sits on the top are headlamps are the LED DRLs which completely mesmerizing. The turn indicators are placed behind or rather around the DRLs. There is a line of aluminum finish running between the DRLs and house a big chrome Renault logo in it. It creates continuity and looks good.

The front grille has completely changed, now it gets horizontal slants which are curved a little from the middle. The front bumper has also been redesigned and it also gets the horizontal lines in it.

From the side, it still has the same square wheel arches but the plastic cladding is in grey shade. The cladding runs from the front bumper and it looks good and sturdy. The B-pillars continues to be blackened out.
From the rear, it gets new sleeker looking tail lamps with new led as stop lamps. You even get optional roof rails for the climber edition with orange ORVMs.

Interiors

Entering the vehicle you are welcomed with the new 3-spoke steering wheel, new digital speedometer with a digital tachometer and fuel level indicator. The mid is incorporated with the Speedometer display and lies below it. Sadly there are no steering mounted controls. It also gets a new fresh infotainment system with an 8-inch touchscreen display and supports both android auto and apple car play.
The display looks slick and AC vents are mounted above it. It even gets a rear parking camera. The dashboard has a large kwid logo engraved in it. In the automatic variant, the Gear selector knob has been moved to the place where it should be, near the handbrake.

It also gets new sporty seats for the climber edition with the side bolsters and fixed headrests, orange surrounds for seat display and Air con vents.
Rear seats get a new armrest. The boot capacity has been reduced to 3 liters to 297L and expected that the rear seat comfort has been improved.

Safety

For safety, it gets only two airbags, one for a drive and another for co-passenger. It gets ABS & EBD too with central locking and engine immobilizer. It also gets the seat belt warning alarm.
