Honda Amaze 2019 Price, Review || MotoJunkie.in

Honda Amaze

Honda Amaze had received its update a year ago. Amaze has always been a pioneer for Honda since its launch. Honda was first to introduce diesel in the compact sedan segment, which resulted in higher sales value and took Amaze to the second-highest selling compact sedan in India, after the dzire. Now we look what comprehensive update Amaze has received which makes it such a great selling car.

  Engine & Performance

Honda engines are renowned for their reliability and Amaze no different. We get two engine options along with two transmission option, so there's for everyone. For the petrol variant, Amaze gets an inline-4 iVTEC 1199cc SOHC engine. This 1.2L engine produces 90bhp of max power at 6000 rpm and a max torque of 110 Nm at 4800 rpm. Currently, this engine is BS-IV compliant but will be BS-VI compliant soon.
For the diesel variant, we get an inline-4 iDTEC 1498cc DOHC engine. This 1.5L engine produces 80bhp of max power at 3800 rpm and a max torque of 170 Nm at just 1750 rpm. Both these engines can opt for a 5-speed manual transmission or an automatic CVT transmission. The CVT is paired with paddle shifters and can be used to take manual control. The CVT offers very smooth gear change, and we won't even notice the gear-change. Such refinement level is Honda offering us. There is no rubber-band effect on the CVT either.
The manual is also not less, and the clutch has a light feel to it and the gear stick shift. There is no rubbery effect on the stick shift.

  Exterior

New headlamps
Amaze has significantly changed from the outside. Now its a bolder looking car. We get a muscular flat bonnet with the minimal crease. Lower down lies signature Honda thick chrome strip grille which houses honda logo. The headlamps are now inspired by its elder City but currently are halogens. DRL lies on the lower part of the headlight.
The bumper has been redesigned too and completes the look. On the bumper, we get round Fog lamps with a radiator vent in the centre. Amaze looks kind of a muscle car from the front now.
On the side, the car is sub 4 metres and have a sedan stance. Amaze is the only car in the segment which was designed to be a sedan and not extending the boot of hatchbacks to make it a sedan. We get round wheel arches housing 15-inch wheels wrapped in 175 section rubber. The wheel size is adequate, but tires feel skinny with this look. The ORVMs are redesigned and now electronically controlled. We get a body-coloured shark-fin antenna on the roof.
There's not much on the rear. The taillights are halogens but redesigned and now extends up to boot lid. The rear bumper is basic and gives Amaze a bolder look.

  Interior

Amaze Interior
On entering Honda Amaze, we are welcome by a dual-tone interior which gives sporty as well as roomy feel. Amaze gets a sporty 3-spoke steering wheel with piano black touch and Steering mounted audio controls. It gets first in class cruise control system on the steering wheels. The instrument cluster is a two dial unit, the tachometer is on the left and speedo on the right with blue illumination, and the rings are chrome garnished. Between the two dials lies a MID screen which shows a lot of information such as twin trip meters, average fuel consumption, gear indicator(CVT only), cruise control range and many more.
Besides, lies a 17.7 in touch screen, which is Apple Carplay and AndroidAuto compatible, it can show turn by turn navigations. Above the screen lies the two AC vents and all vents are finished in chrome. On the dash, we get piano black inserts which add to the premium feel. The seats are finished in beige. The rear passenger gets access to a power outlet and also an armrest with cupholders. We get a big 420L of the boot.
