2020 Maruti Suzuki Dzire Price, Specs, Review || MotoJunkie

  Introduction

2020 Suzuki Dzire
Maruti Suzuki Swift Dzire launched in the year 2008 in the Indian Automotive market. It was based out of second-generation Suzuki Swift. The primary purpose was to give a small yet spacious sedan for the market. This was done by extending the boot of the Swift hatchback. Swift Dzire is a subcompact or a sub-4-meter sedan. It gave away the Swift name when the third generation was out in the market, based on the 4th gen swift. Now we have its third generation updated with BS-VI compliant engine. It is now the most selling subcompact sedan in India and rivals against Ford Aspire, Honda Amaze, Volkswagon Ameo, and Hyundai Aura.

  Engine & Transmission

K12N Petrol engine

Maruti Dzire became popular most selling car due to its punchy yet fuel-efficient 1.3L DDiS diesel engine in its second generation. Now, as the BS-VI norms kicked in, Maruti has to discontinue the diesel engine. A 1.2L petrol engine now powers Dzire code-named as K12N. This 1197 cc inline-4, DOHC, VTVT petrol engine produces 89bhp of max power at 6000rpm and 113 Nm of peak torque at 4400 rpm. This petrol engine is mated to a 5-speed manual transmission and 5-speed AMT known as AGS technology. Mileage is always a concern for Maruti buyers, and this Dzire can give up to 23.26 kmpl in manual variant and 24.12 kmpl in AMT car as per ARAI testing.

  Exteriors

Suzuki Dzire is now based on the new HEARTECT platform, the same as Baleno. It helps in looking it less bulgy and sharper. The design is very similar to the 4th gen Swift, but the Dzire gave off the Sift badge as it was launched before the 4th gen Swift in India. On the front, we now get a premium single aperture grille with two thick plastic horizontal bars, which hold the Suzuki logo and chrome outlining for the grille. On the side of the low slung grille, we have a smoked out LED projector headlamp setup with some chrome highlights and DRL DRLs in the lower edge of the cluster. Lower down headlamp, there lies a halogen foglamp with black mounting and bold chrome accents.

Coming to the side profile of the car, there are not many changes to the vehicle, the bodyline is quite similar to the older generation, and it is at the end an extended swift. The B-pillar is blackened out, and now we get a new set of ORVMs with Auto-Fold system and mounted turn indicators. We get new precision cut dual tone 15 inch alloys on the high spec car wrapped in 185/65 R15 tires. For lower variants, there are 14-inch steel wheels with 165/80 R14 tires. It offers 163mm of ground clearance. On the rear we get a set of combination lights and a roof mounted high stop lamp. It is very similar to the older one.

  Interiors

The interior of the car has been overhauled entirely, and it offers a premium feel. Dzire gets a beige and black interior with wooden accents. The beige color makes the cabin lit and feels roomy. There is a new leather-wrapped, three-spoke flat-bottom steering wheel. The wheels have mounted co
ntrols and now also features cruise controls on the right. The instrument cluster is a two-pot analog unit with a color TFT MID in the center. The big tacho and speedo dials have small engine temp and fuel gauge dials, respectively. Moving further, we have two horizontal air-con vents on the top and an 8-inch touch screen display with Android Auto, Apple CarPlay, and Navigation system. Below the screen lies the controls for the Automatic Air conditioner. Dashboard and Steering wheels get wooden treatment and a cooled glovebox.

The leatherette seats are finished in beige and offer champagne accents. Seats are comfortable and provide proper supports. The rear seats are bench type with a center armrest with tw
in cupholders. The rear AC vents and 12V are placed behind the front armrest. It offers an excellent 378 litres of boot space.

  Safety

Lots of us troll Suzuki for its safety, but here we are not to brag, we are here to tell you what Suzuki gave Dzire to be a tin can. Suzuki says that the new HEARTECT platform is a rigid and more durable chassis. Dzire gets dual front airbags standard across the range. It is equipped with ABS and EBD for proper road grip during panic braking. Dzire is equipped with Electronic Stability Program and Hill Hold Assist, which makes it easier to crawl on the slopes. It also gets rear Iso-fix child seat mounts and seatbelt warning.
