Introduction of Honda Jazz 2020

Honda Jazz 2020 is a B-segment subcompact hatchback from the Japanese manufacturer. It was launched in 2009 in India and now the third-gen Jazz gets its facelift for the BS6 compliance. It is also known as Honda Fit in different countries. Maruti Baleno, Hyundai i20, Toyota Glanza, Volkswagon Polo and Tata Altroz are the rivals for Honda Jazz 2020.

Engine & Performance

Honda Jazz 2020 receives an all-new BS-VI compliant petrol engine. The diesel engine has been laid off due to the emission regulations. This all-new engine is marketed under the 'Earths Dream Technology' name similar used for Honda City. The engine is a 1199cc inline-4, i-Vtec SOHC engine producing 89 bhp at 6000 rpm and 110 Nm at 4800 rpm. The outputs remain identical to the discontinued BS4 engine.

This engine is mated to a 5-speed manual transmission and a 7-step CVT for the automatic option. In addition, the CVT comes with paddle shifters mounted under the steering wheel. Above all, this engine is claimed to return a fuel efficiency figure of 16.6 kmpl for the manual variant and 17 kmpl for automatic.

Exteriors

On the design front, nothing much is changed on the Honda Jazz 2020 india. The car is basically the same and gets some minor tweaks here and there. Starting with the front, it gets a set new LED headlamps. Honda says these are new Advance LED with the inline shell. It gets LED DRLs below the headlamps. Then, there is a signature thick gloss black strip with a Honda logo in the centre.

Chrome is accentuated on the front grill for more premiums. Lower down we get a new bumper and in the bumper lies the housing for LED fog lamp. Only the turn signal used here is a halogen bulb and I wonder what's stopping them from doing that? The fog-lamp gets chrome surround for it.

On the side, Jazz 2020 gets the same set of wheels, these are sets of sparkle silver R15 alloy wheels. The A,B and C pillars get matte black finish on the doors. The door handles are chrome plated for added premiums. The new ORVM is mounted on the door and gets turn signal indicator mounted and gets electric adjustability as well.

Now coming to the rear of the car, we get Signature LED wing tail lamps. Then there is a thick chrome bar running throughout the width under the rear glass of the car. The tail lamp design is similar, except now it gets LEDs, but the turn indicator and reverse lamps are still halogen units. The rear bumper is new and tried to match it with the front one.

Interiors & Safety

The Interior of Jazz has not been touched. We have a multifunction three-spoke steering wheel, the same 3 pods analogue-digital instrument cluster, automatic climate control. It gets 7-inch infotainment display and a 5-inch screen for the base model. The seats are retained and there is actually nothing to talk about the interiors.

For the safety front, Jazz 2020 gets Dual front airbags, ABS, EBD, rear parking sensors with camera standard across the range. It is built on the Honda trademark ACE body structure which has been functioning in many cars in the Honda stable. The other safety features are Speed Sensing Auto Door Lock, Auto-dimming IRVM, Driver and Front Passenger Seatbelt Reminder, Driver Side Window One-Touch Up/Down with Pinch Guard, High-Speed Alert and Rear Windshield Defogger.
