Yamaha Aerox 155 Price in India, Frist Look Review || MotoJunkie.in

Yamaha has launched its First Maxi Scooter for India. Currently, it is the most potent scooter money can buy in India, and it is also a full-fledged Maxi scooter. Other scooters such as Suzuki Burgman Street, Aprilia SXR160 are Maxi-style scooters with a less powerful engine. This one, however, is a complete performance-oriented scooter. Aerox does not have a floorboard, but a spine hump, has bigger wheels, stepped seats, big and wide apron; overall, it just looks sporty. It only rivals Aprilia SXR160,considering the segment and engine capacity.

  Engine & Gearbox

Yamaha Aerox 155 is powered by a 155cc single-cylinder, Liquid-cooled engine. It is the engine we have seen on the R15v3 and now on v4, but it is a detuned version. It currently produces 15 Ps of power and 13.9 Nm of torque. Max power also comes lower at 8000 rpm. This engine is also equipped with VVA tech, so there would be enough power in the mid-range and even in the top end, making riding more fun. This scooter is focused on youth and who love performance. This engine is mated to a conventional V-Belt CVT transmission for ease of ride. Along this scooter gets the trending smart motor generator which eliminates gears and ensures a silent starting system.

  Design

Aerox features one of the handsome and sharp design. On the front it gets a big apron, on the apron there lies dual LED headlamps, typical Yamaha fashion and eyebrow like LED DRLs. On the handle cowl, there is a small visor and sharp plastic panels. Instrument cluster and mirrors are mounted on the handlebar. Turn indicators are placed on the front side of side-panels.

From the sides, we witness that there is no floorboard, but a spine. In this spine lies the fuel tank. On the spine there is a big X designed in grey plastic, with Aerox 155 sticker on it. The rider has to sit on it like a motorcycle with both legs on either side of fuel tank. The stepped seat is big for rider but looks adequate for pillion. There is storage under seat. The radiator is mounted on the ride side panel where usual fan were located in air-cooled scooters.
The rear tail is very sharply designed and has a very slim LED tail light and motorcycle like rear mudguard and with no. plate holder and motorcycle like turn indicators

  Suspension & Brakes

Yamaha Aerox gets conventional telescopic suspension on the front with large 14 inch alloy wheels. For the rear it gets motorcycle like twin shock absorber. You can even opt for gas charged KYB shock for rear as an accessory.

Braking duties are done by a 230 mm disc at the front and a rear drum brake. It gets ABS but, only on the front wheel. Scooter also has some chunky rubber, 110 section at front and wide 140 section at rear

  Features

Starting with Instrument cluster, it is a negative LCD display with Bluetooth connectivity. Yamaha is aiming to make its all scooters and motorcycle Bluetooth enable connectivity. It gets twin tachos on left and right, a big sppedo digit, odometer, trip meters, avg fuel consumption, Clock VVA light, sms alert, call alert, fuel guage, check engine, high oil temperature, ABS and Start Stop system light. With the Y-Connect app there are tons of information available.

There is a front pocket with a 12V power socket to charge mobile phone. On the right there is a multi function key switch which can open, seat and fuel filler cap from one spot. The fuel lid is placed on the centre spine.
Then there is a side stand engine cutoff feature too, so that we may not forget to remove it before we go zoom on the throttle.

Since the fuel tank is in the spine it has cleared room for bigger under seat storage; It has 24.5 litres and should be enough to fit a full face helmet.
