  Overview

Skoda Superb is the family size sedan offered by the Czech manufacturer under VW group. Recently, two of the Skoda received the facelifts and a new car was launched. Superb is one of them. So, this is the third gen Skoda Superb facelift. This gen is based on the VW's MQB platform, which we have already seen underpinning many cars. This is a 5-seater D-segment sedan offering a lot of comfort, rivaling the Toyota Corolla Altis, Honda Civic, Mercedes CLA & Octavia RS.

  Engine & Performance
2.0 L TSI engine

Superb gets major update inside the hood. It now gets a 2.0L TSI petrol engine instead of the older 1.8 TSI. While other cars are getting downsized to meet the BS-VI regulations, Superb gets a bigger engine. It is a 1984cc inline-4, turbo-charged, BS6 compliant TSI petrol engine producing 188bhp at 4200 rpm and 320 Nm at 1450 rpm. The power is up by 10 bhps and a significant 25% increase in the twisting force. This engine is only mated to a 7-speed automatic DSG gearbox and no manual is available. The Skodas are now only limited to a single engine with an automatic DSG.

  Exteriors

Starting with the front, the car looks familiar, it gets a big signature grill with chrome surrounds, the headlamp has been updated, it now gets LED matrix headlamps with DRLs. The matrix system has been derived from the Audi counterpart and it makes the car look sleeker. Below the headlamps, lies the headlight washer unit. Lower down we get a new and sleek bumper. It gets LED fog lamps and lower grill gets honeycomb mesh.

Coming to the side of the car, the design is retained. The car now gets new set of wheels, top spec L&K  variant gets dual-tone 17 inch Cassiopeia wheels as shown above and the sportline variant gets Anthracite R17 wheels, later ones are black colours. The B-pillar is finished in Black and the window area is surrounded by chrome in L&K and black in case of Sportline. The door handles are body coloured and the ORVMs are dual-tone with indicators mounted on them. It gets a rear mounted shark fin antenna too. The car is 4869mm long, 1864 mm wide and 1469mm tall and gets a 156mm of ground clearance.

Now on the rear, the main highlights are the newly designed LED tail lamps, they just look gorgeous. Currently all the VW group car gets beautiful LED tail lights. This one gets dynamic turn indicators on it. They have tried to mimic the front headlamps. The boot lid is a big and opens with rear windshield. New age Skoda lettering is done on the boot lid. In the Sportline we also gets a subtle lip spoiler finished in black. Down the bumper, partial is finished in black plastic and gets chrome accents and a fake blacked dual port exhaust tip. However, it gets dual exhausts, they could have made them functional.
