Introduction
TVS Ntorq is a scooter launched by TVS Motors in Feb 2018. This is a performance scooter and has some of the very unique features. It was the first scooter to get a TFT display with Bluetooth connectivity, lap timer, 0-60 record timer and much more. Ntorq is a well equipped and a fun scooter to ride. It rivals the Aprilia SR 125, Suzuki Burgman Street 125, Yamaha Ray ZR 125 and other 125 cc scooters.
Engine & Gearbox
Ntorq is powered by a 124.8 cc fan cooled, 3-valve petrol engine. This engine produces 9.1 bhp at 7000 rpm and 10.5 Nm at 5500 rpm. This engine is mated to a CVT transmission which TVS calls as CVTi via centrifugal clutch. This engine is BS6 compliant and the fueling is done with Fuel Injectors. This is one of the very few scooters to get a 3 valve engine, two on the inlet and one for exhaust.
Chassis, Suspension & Brakes
Ntorq is supported by a high rigidity under-bone chassis. The tubes used are rectangular and provide much better stiffness than the round one. It weighs 118 kg dry and offers a good 155mm ground clearance. For the suspensions we get twin conventional telescopic suspensions and a hydraulic coil spring for the rear. The front and rear wheels are 12 inch diamond cut alloy wheels and it gets tubeless 100/80-12 tires for them. For the braking, we get a 220 mm petal front disc and a 130mm drum for the rear, there is a lower variant for 130mm front and rear drum brakes too. It gets Synchronized Braking System SBT standard on all the variants.
Aesthetics
TVS Ntorq gets a very sharp, edgy and rugged design. It is offered in dual tone colours. From the front, we get handle-mounted turn indicators, with a black design in centre. Coming down, the apron is also finished in dual tone colours with black in the centre, the headlamp is mounted lower on the apron. There is a Race Tuned variant which gets LED headlamps and DRLs. The side fairing is extended out to give it a muscular look. The front mudguard is designed edgy. Coming to the side, here the sharp design is continued and we get to see many cuts and creases all around the scooter. Seat looks premium and gets Red stitching for more appeal. Ntorq 3-d logo i also finished in red. We get a muscular exhaust which gives a very bassy note and looks premium. The fan for cooling engine is also finished in red and looks different.
Coming to the rear, we get fake air vents and a T-shaped LED tail lamp, it looks very striking. It gets split grab handles for pillions and they look extremely sport as well. The turn indicators are placed a bit lower than the tail lamp.
Features
This is undoubtedly the most feature loaded scooter out there, It gets a modern instrument cluster and it has tons of features to offer. It is India's first connected scooter. It gets Bluetooth connectivity, you can pair it with your mobile phone. It gets two riding modes, city and Sport. It also has a lap time recorder and we can view our last lap time and best lap time anytime, it is recorded on the console. The welcome message can be customized by your mobile phone and you can choose whatever it should display when you turn the ignition On. It can show you incoming call, message, missed call alerts as well. This scooter gets a navigation assist so yo don't have to look at your phone during ride. Phone battery and signal can be viewed from the console itself. It has a feature to auto send a message when you are riding. It automatically syncs time with you phone. It got three trip-meters and the trip report can be generated on your phone. The last parked location can also viewed form the phone. All these are possible with the help of Riders app. This is the first scooter to get a kill switch and it also has a pass by switch. It gets a 22L under-seat storage with USB charging and a light in the boot. It has a high engine temp alert and high speed alert too.
