Honda CB 500X

Honda Motorcycle & Scooters India has launched the CB 500X for the Indian market yesterday. This year HMSI woke up and focusing on motorcycles. It is the second launch of 2021 and both bikes are available through Honda BigWing World, an exclusive dealership which only sells superbikes/higher capacity motorcycles. The CB500X is a middle weight road biased adventure tourer and can tackle some amount of off-roading as well. The prices are announced as Rs. 6.87 lakhs ex-showroom. It is bit much for this motorcycle, this one comes through CKD route and it attracts a lot of taxes and duties. If HMSI starts manufacturing it here locally, then we can see this at a price tag of 5-5.5 lakhs.

471cc parallel twin engine
As the name says CB 500X, it is powered a 471cc parallel twin BS6 compliant, liquid-cooled petrol engine. This produces 47.5 Ps at 8500 rpm and 43.2Nm peak torque at 6500 rpm. Then it gets a 6-speed gearbox via slip and assist slipper clutch as standard.

Honda CB 500X draws inspiration from its elder more capable sibling, Africa Twin. The silhouette is similar and ergonomics are inspired from it. On the front it gets a single unit LED headlamp and high mounted turn signals. Above it there is a large windscreen to deflect wind on high speeds. Then we have a nice adequate size negative LCD cluster which shows tachometer, speedometer, dual trip meters, odometer, fuel level, clock, coolant temperature and gear position. Though a Bluetooth screen would be nice with a navigation display. There's fake carbon around the cluster and even fake vents too.
Grand Prix Red

Honda CB 500X has a large 17.7 ltrs of fuel tank to tour the distance and a seat height of 830mm which isn't much and anyone above 5'6" would easily flat foot it. The seat is a single piece unit and would provide enough support for pillion and rider. On the rear we have a LED tail light similar design to headlamp and LED turn indicators.

320mm wavy disc
It is underpinned by a diamond steel tubular chassis. The front suspension is a 41mm convention telescopic fork with long travel and rear one is pro link rear mono-shock. Both are adjustable for the preload. The front wheel is a 19-incher alloy wheel and gets 110 section tires while rear is 17-inch with 160mm rear tire. For the braking we have a 310mm front disc and 240mm rear disc with Dual channel ABS as standard. Honda CB500X has a ground clearance of 181 mm which is adequate enough for bad Indian roads. It also gets Emergency Stop Signal which automatically activates hazard light in case of sudden brakes, then we have HISS, Honda Ignition Security System, it means it is equipped with reinforced handlebar lock structures, and strengthened key cylinders.

Honda CB 500X is available in two colour options: Matt Gunpowder Black Metallic & Grand Prix Red. The price is Rs. 6.87 lakhs exhowroom Delhi.
