Introduction
Maruti Suzuki Ertiga is a Multi Purpose Vehicle MPV launched by Maruti Suzuki in 2012. We have currently have its second generation on the sale. This gen gets a mild facelift with a new BSVI compliant engine. There is no direct competition to Ertiga however we get XL6 premium version of Ertiga at a slightly higher price. Mahindra Marazzo buyers may also look for Ertiga. Innova Crysta is positioned higher and Renault Triber is positioned lower. Ertiga is the only of its kind in the segment.
Engine & Gearbox

Earlier Ertiga was power by a 1.5L petrol engine and the most selling 1.3 DDiS diesel engine. This DDiS engine was a gem with great performance and descent fuel efficiency. Due to BS-VI norms diesel engine has been given off and now like other Maruti cars this one also doesn't gets a diesel engine. Ertiga is now powered by a BS6 compliant 1.5L K15 Smart Hybrid petrol engine. This 1462cc inline-4 DOHC engine produces 103 bhp at 6000 rpm and 138 Nm at 4400 rpm and is coupled with regenerative braking system. This engine is coupled with a 5-speed manual gearbox and a 4-speed Automatic. Ertiga can also be opted with the CNG variant as it is one of the preference for the taxi market. The manual transmission can return upto 19.01 kmpl and automatic variants returns upto 17.99 kmpl according to ARAI testing.
Exterior
On the front, we get a chrome studded descent sized front grille with a big suzuki logo in the centre. On the side of the grille we get a halogen projector headlamp setup. Inside of headlamp gets some beautiful chrome designs. The bumper is well sculpted and gets a round halogen fog lamp in black surrounds. The black plastic extends and forms vents for radiator to draw air in. On the side the car is long and gets sculpted waist line. The B-pillar, C-pillar and D-pillar are finished and black and gives Ertiga a floating roof. The ORVMs are body coloured with mounted turn indicators on it. The exterior door handles are also finished in chrome. Lower down, we get 15 inch multi-spoke alloy wheels with 185/65 R15 tires. It features a ground clearance of 180 mm.
Coming to the rear of the car, we get 3d split tail lamps with led stop lamps. There is a chrome bar joining the tail-lamps and lower it gets the license plate. The brake light is positioned high with a rear camera on its side. The tail gate is well sculpted and looks sharp.
Interior
Ertiga gets a dual tone biege and brown interior with some wood accents. The steering wheel is a 3-spoke flat bottom leather wrapped with wooden garnishing. This steering has spotted on other Maruti cars as well. The instrument cluster has been carried over from the Dzire with two big dials and a TFT MID in middle. The new age Smart Play Studio is a 7 inch floating touch screen display which can be connected to smartphones via Android Auto, Apple CarPlay and Mirror Link. Screen is positioned between one horizontal and one vertical AC vent. The dash on the left has horizontal lines matching with the AC vents to depict the big grill like the Audi with wooden inserts below it. The front twin cup-holders have air cooling function to them. The driver gets a fixed armrest. 
The second row gets two adjustable headrests and a centre armrest with cup holders. The four Automatic Air-con vents for second row are roof mounted with blower controls. The third row is less spacious and is only suitable for children, it gets cup-holders on the sides and adjustable headrest as well.
There is 209 litres of boot space and can be increased upto 803L with second and third row folded down.
Safety
Maruti Ertiga is based on the Heartect platform, which is also used in Dzrire, Baleno, Swift and many other cars as well. Suzuki claims it to a rigid structure and safe platform. It also has less NVH levels too. It gets dual front airbags standard. For breaking ABS and EBD with Brake Assist are also standard across the range. It gets ESP with Hill Hold Assist for easy maneuver on the slopes. Isofix child seat mounts and height adjustable front seat belts with pretensioners. It also gets high speed alert and speed sensing auto door lock.
