Introduction
Kia Seltos is the first and the entry vehicle from the Korean brand. It sits in the mid size crossover SUV segment. We have already seen and reviewed the car, click here for review. Since the new 2020 Hyundai Creta is up for sale, Kia decides to upmarket the seltos and update it with according to the current generation. Kia Seltos and Hundai Creta shares the same platform, Seltos is more modern and techy, targeted towards young customers. Kia seltos competes again MG Hector, Hyundai Creta, Renault Duster, Nissan Kicks, Tata Harrier and XUV 5oo.
Engine & Transmission
Kia already had BS6 powerplants from the starting and hence there is no need for newer engines. There is a 1.5L petrol Engine. This is an inline-4, DOHC 1497cc petrol engine. This engine produces 113bhp of max power and 144Nm of max torque. This engine is offered in the HT trims of the Creta paired with a 6-speed manual transmission and a 6-step CVT automatic gearbox.
Then we have, 1.5L diesel engine. This is a turbocharged inline-4, DOHC 1493 cc motor producing 113 bhp of max power and 250 Nm of peak torque. This engine is mated to a 6-speed manual transmission and 6-speed Automatic Transmission. This engine claims to return fuel economy around 21kmpl.
There is another petrol engine, a powerful 1.4L SmartStream G 1.4 TDi motor. This engine produces max. power of 138 bhp and 242 Nm of torque. This is mated with a 6-speed manual transmission and a 6-speed Automatic DCT gearbox. This petrol engine is available in the GT line This engine configuration is shared by Hyundai Creta as well.

Exterior of the car remains the same. Seltos is offered in two sub models, HT line and GT line. GT line is a sport variant with powerful petrol engine, different interior and there is some difference in the exteriors yet very low but significant. On the GT line the tiger-nose grille gets an extra red coloured GT Line badge on the left side. The front bumper is loaded with some grey elements. On the side HT line gets a chrome line running on the doors while they are absent on GT line. HT line gets alloy wheels finished in black, while GT line gets a sporty silver finished alloy wheels. On GT line the brake callipers are also finished in red. Now the dual muffler design is also available on the HT line and the GT line.
Interiors
There are two trims of interiors, Brown and Beige for HT line and All black sporty with red accents for the GT line. The dash design and interiors is similar with some new changes. The touch screen size is identical at 10.25 inches with a 7 inch instrument cluster and a 8 inch Heads up display. The infotainment got smarter with new Voice Command features for the UVO app. UVO app can now also be connected through smartwatch. The handle for co passenger near the lever is now finished in silver and gives more premium appeal. Sunroof is now available in HTX and GTX trims as well. The front seats are equipeed with ventilation feature which will be quite useful in India. There is also an smart air purifier in the cabin. 360 degree camera helps in parking in tight spots easy. Bose Audio System with 8 speakers gives a good feel.
Safety
Kia seltos is equipped with upto 6 airbags. ABS and EBD with Brake Assist are standard across the 
range. It uses the same chassis used by Creta with 65% HSS steel used. It also gets disc brakes on all wheels for better stopping. ESC with Hill Assist and Vehicle Stability Management helps to control the car easily. Now it also gets the flashing tail light on panic braking system like other Hyundai cars. The engine can be started remotely. The TPMS shows the results on the MID.
Colours and Pricing
There are seven base colours for the Seltos:
Intense Red, Glacier White Pearl, Steel Silver, Gravity Grey, Intelligency Blue and Punchy Orange.
Seltos can be offered in Dual tone colours as well:
White Pearl+Black, Pearl Orange +White, White Pearl+Orange, Intense Red+Black, Steel silver+Orange.
