Honda WRV Facelift 2020

  Introduction

Honda WRV is a compact crossover SUV based on the Honda Jazz, a hatchback by Honda. Simply, it is just a lifted Jazz with SUV elements. It was launched in 2017 and now in 2020 Honda has given it a facelift. WR-V rivals Tata Nexon, Hyundai Venue, Mahindra XUV 3OO, Renault Duster, Maruti Suzuki Vitara Brezza and Ford EcoSport.

  Engine & Gearbox

WR-V has given new BS6 compliant engines. It gets a 1.2L iVTEC and a 1.5L iDTEC. The iVTEC is a 1199 cc, inline-4 cylinder, SOHC, VTEC petrol engine producing 89 bhp at 6000 rpm and 110 Nm at 4800 rpm. The diesel engine is a 1498 cc, inline-4 cylinder DOHC diesel engine. It produces 98 bhp at 3600 rpm and 200 Nm at 1750 rpm. Both these engine power the front wheels. The petrol engine is equipped with only a 5-speed manual stick shift transmission and diesel gets a 6-speed manual transmission. There is no Automatic or CVT on offer and it kind of indicates that Jazz will also not make to Automatic transmission.

  Exterior


WR-V has grown more modern and macho. It gets new advanced LED projector headlamp setup with chrome inside the cluster. Then we have twin piece C shaped LED DRLs on the outer edge of the headlamp cluster. The big chrome slat in the centre follows the Honda design language. Below that we get big Black grille which gives it a huge look. The bumper is new with new fog lamps housing and the fog lamps are LED units. Below that we get black plastic to reduce the visual bulk. There is also an aluminium bash plate lower down to give it proper SUV appeal.
Coming to the sides, the body proportions are retained as it is just a face-lift. We get Blackened B-pillar and C-pillar. There is a thin Chrome Humanity line running under the windows. The ORVM is mounted on the door in a sporty manner. The Exterior door handles also gets chrome garnishing. Lower down we see black plastic cladding running underneath to give it a SUV feel to it. The wheel arches gets them too and it is extended in the centre to the top which makes it look different. To fill in those wheel arches we get diamond cut dual tone 16-inch wheels. These wheels get 195/60-R16 tires to grip the road. On the top we get aluminium finished roof rails and a hark fin antenna. To get the air in our head we have a sunroof in it.


Coming to the rear we get new C-shaped LED tail-lamps which extends to the boot lid. We have an integrated roof spoiler with stop lamp mounted on the top. The bumper is new with Skid plate for SUV elements.

  Interior

WR-V gets Black mesh and emboss fabric interiors. We get a 3-spoke steering wheel with mounted controls and cruise control switches. It gets tilt & telescopic adjustments. The instrument cluster is similar with two analog dials, bigger one in centre for speed and left for tachometer. On the right we get a circular TFT MID  for hosts of information. On the left of steering wheel we get start stop buton which illuminates in red. The we have two horizontal vents for the AC. Below that we get 17.7 cm or a 7 inch touch-screen infotainment display. It gets Android Auto, Apple CarPlay connectivity and turn by turn navigation built in. Below that we have touch controls for the single zone Automatic climate control. The driver gets an adjustable armrest with storage space under. The air-con vents aluminium surround to them. On the rear seats we get two headrests but they are not adjustable. There is no armrest for rear passengers. It gets boot space of 363 litres and in the boot we get a full size steel wheel. 

  Safety

For the safety, this car is build on the ACE technology structure, Honda claims that it is capable to distribute the impact and travel them away from the passengers. ACE body structure has also been incorporated in Honda Accord, Civic, CR-V, BR-V, Amaze and many more. It gets dual front ABS as standard across the range. Other standard features are ABS, EBD with Brake Assist. It gets Brake override System which means it will not allow you to rev while pressing the brake pedal. It gets driver side one touch up/down window with anti pinch system. It is also equipped with impact mitigating headrests.
